Wike: Election petitions not won on social media
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike reacted to the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPC) ruling by saying that campaign petitions on social media are not won. In an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Thursday,
Wike said the campaign petition was “a special case, not propaganda”. His words: "I've always told people that a campaign is not like anything else." This is a specific domain. It's not because of propaganda. “You don't earn it with social media.
This is a presentation of evidence and facts. You didn't say that to your followers out there. "I sat there for no less than 10 hours watching the judges carefully consider each point, from preliminary objections to questions, to objections to documents and evidence to substantive issues." The former Rivers state governor said He also knew the LP Labor Party candidate would not win the election. "I know that he [Obi] will not win the election. To be honest, I'm a realist.
The election process was difficult for me. "I'll give it to Ceni," he said. “Yeah, when he was young people would have preferred it if he won, but look at how the votes went.
“There was this generational change, the young people were tired. Their only hope, therefore, was to vote for Obi as he was younger than the other candidates.
“But they don’t know, this is the reality of Nigerian politics. They did not take into account the importance of ethnicity. They failed to consider that religion is a factor and not just a skill; This is the reality of Nigerian politics. Wike also said when Obi took over as governor of Anambra State, the judiciary was right but wrong when his decision did not “favor” it over Wednesday’s PEPC verdict.
He said: “Didn’t Peter Obi win in
the Supreme Court when he was removed as governor?” Did he give
bribes? Now let the world tell it. “When he was removed as governor, didn’t he regain
his seat on the Supreme Court?”Justice
was right, but now that the
decision has been made, it is wrong.”
