Alex Otti can break Michael Okpara's governance record at Abia: Ezekwesili

Ezekwesili spoke on Tuesday and delivered the keynote address at the 32nd Abia Day celebrations at the International Conference Center in Umuahia, the state capital.

The late Okpara was of Umuahian origin and was Prime Minister of what was then Nigeria's Eastern Region during the First Republic from 1959 until its fall in 1966.

Ezekwesili said that Okpara "acted correctly to turn 'Abia' into a vital economic base.

During his tenure, she added that Otti was willing to take on more responsibilities and that "the opportunities are already there" in the state and that "Abia needs an entrepreneurial environment". of human potential,

"will change the fortunes of Abia in no time". “Remember how in this commercial city, the market of Ariaria, where young men and women produce in large quantities all kinds of shoes, clothes, cotton, tents and some other articles, the government gives them due attention by giving them the necessary attention and technological equipment tools to help them in production," Ezekwesili said.

“Some of these objects are handmade, but they are indistinguishable from aliens.

There are many talented people in Abia whose skills need to be improved. “China hasn't gotten anywhere in the past 40 years, but now the country has a strong economic footing that rivals the United States.

“The problem in Nigeria is a leadership problem and only leaders can solve it.” Once the country's leadership style improves, everything else will change.

"Abia gave birth to great men. The late Dr. Michael Okpara native of Abia State, has successfully transformed the state into a major economic base.

I think Alex Otti has what it takes to break his records.

Ezekwesili called on the governors of the south-eastern region to address the region's security challenges to ensure prosperous economic growth.
